Illustrative calculation in the same currency; not account data.

How to use it

  1. 1

    Open a saved trade

In Trades, open View / Details and expand Risk & executions → Edit. You can also select a trade in Trade charts and use the same editor.

  2. 2

    Record the original risk

Enter the amount you originally planned to lose if the trade failed, using the trade’s recorded P&L currency. For example, a recorded net profit of 150 with original risk of 100 is +1.5R. This is an illustrative calculation, not a suggested risk budget.

  3. 3

    Add instrument details when needed

Record the original stop, target, contract value per price point per unit, quote-to-P&L FX rate and optional pip or tick size. Verify these against your broker’s contract specification. Forex lots, index CFDs, futures and options can use different units.

  4. 4

    Record actual fills

Add Entry / scale in and Exit / scale out rows in execution order, with size, price, fee and date or timestamp. Start ledger from saved trade provides a summary entry/exit to edit; it does not retrieve a broker’s detailed fill history.

  5. 5

    Save and review

Click Save risk & fills. The editor shows remaining size, average open cost and ledger realised net when contract value and FX are provided. On the Dashboard, the Risk performance widget shows R expectancy, net R, coverage and a cumulative R chart.

Understanding the data

  • R uses recorded net P&L divided by the original risk budget in the same currency. Historical imports usually do not include that budget. Missing risk stays missing until you record it; cash performance still includes usable results.
  • The fill ledger is separate from broker P&L. Saving fills does not overwrite imported results, change a broker position or send an order.
  • Fees are entered in the selected risk / fee currency. FX 1 is appropriate only when quote and fee currencies match. Stop-based risk calculation uses the saved size and excludes fees and slippage.
  • Times entered without an offset use the display timezone and are saved in UTC. Date-only records retain date precision and listed order; they do not imply an exact execution time.
  • Use a consistent timestamp precision for fills on the same day. Exits cannot exceed the available size. Ledger-versus-broker differences may reflect financing, other adjustments or incomplete fills.

Common questions

Why is my R chart empty?

Add a positive original risk amount in the same currency as a saved closed trade’s P&L. The Dashboard also needs a usable result, a closing date and any required reporting FX. Check the selected period and risk coverage.

Can this handle different instruments?

The editor records contract values, FX, pip and tick sizes per trade. Monetary ledger results require explicit contract value and FX settings; stock-style quantity assumptions are not applied to other instruments.

Does broker sync automatically populate this ledger?

This editor records the risk and fills you supply. Broker sync and imports keep their existing trade results; a complete execution ledger is not inferred from a summary row.
